Challenge

This agricultural museum in California is ready for an overhaul and asked for help assessing where to start.

Additional challenge: Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, some of our interpretive planning sessions were held over Zoom.

Key revelation

The facility attracts a small, but reliable audience that does not reflect the region’s demographics — there are many potential audience members within reach.

My Role

Together with a colleague, I met with museum staff, analyzed the site, conducted visitor survey research, implemented an educator needs assessment, and led interpretive master planning meetings. Together with my colleague, I wrote the final Interpretive Master Plan Prospectus document.
